Mick is to be featured on Dave Monks
The show will be aired on Radio Merseyside (Sunday 17th June, 8-10pm) He went in on Wed to pick three of his all time favourite tunes, and I think a surprise in in store for many. Don't forget to tune in. The show is available to download at Radio Merseyside

SHACK have recorded the Love classic 'A House Is Not A Motel'
for a Liverpool Echo covermount cd. The band went into Highfield St Studios on Wed and put down a blistering version of the song. A long time favourite that has popped up periodically in their live set for many years, the decision to do it for the E cho was in some way a small tribute to their good friend Arthur Lee, who passed away last year.

An acoustic session is scheduled for Friday 22nd June
(5.30pm) for the Drivetime slot on Radio Merseyside. An informal chat and a couple of tunes...perfect. All this is a lead up for the Knowsley Hall festival. Everybody is looking forward to this so much, and it promises to be a special day all round.

Arthur succumbed to the illness he has been fighting yesterday afternoon. He passed away with his beloved wife by his side.

It goes without saying the impact his music made on us and we are deeply saddened by the news.

NEW ALBUM ‘... THE CORNER OF MILES AND GIL’.

SHACK return in May 2006 with their fourth studio album ‘… The Corner Of Miles And Gil’. The album is preceded by a limited edition single ‘Tie Me Down’ and the band will be touring the UK throughout May.

Recorded in 2005, The new album ‘… The Corner of Miles and Gil’ is a deep guitar-soul classic – all kaleidoscopic melody and jazzy, dreamscape trumpets. Named after the Head brothers heroes Miles Davis and Gil Evans (Davis’ arranger), the album features songs of lyrical and musical genius which Shack’s countless fans have come to expect. Single ‘Tie Me Down’ is one of the few tracks ever written about restraint techniques in a sexual relationship, and topics as diverse as Home and Away and acid in teacups are covered over the 12 tracks!

The single and album are released on Noel Gallagher’s label Sour Mash who stepped in when the band were left without a deal after their last release ‘Here’s Tom With The Weather’. This also led to Shack supporting Oasis in February 2006 at several of their arena shows.

1st May 2006 sees the release of a limited Edition 7” and download only of Tie Me Down b/w Uncle Smaegel’s Cardigan and then proceeds with release of the new album…The Corner of Miles and Gil on the 15th May 2006.

The track listing for the album includes the following;

Tie Me Down / Butterfly / Cup of Tea / Shelley Brown / Black & White / New Day / Miles Away / Finn, Sophie, Bobby & Lance / Moonshine / Funny Things / Find A Place / Closer

Make sure you keep checking back to the site for exclusive streaming of tracks from the album starting next week!
